These specialized thermometers can quickly measure the surface temperature of an object without touching it, making it easy to know the surface temperature of a grill or griddle. Because they operate remotely – measuring surface temperatures only, not internal temperatures – they are helpful when it is not possible or practical to touch the object being measured.
